Recruiting Fraud Alert

Fraudsters posing as legitimate employers are contacting job-seeking candidates and making fake job offers. This is a common scheme, where fraudulent job listings are posted on popular employment websites such as LinkedIn and Indeed.  Scammers even create their own websites which mimic legitimate company recruiting sites. Please use caution when using these sites and when reviewing and replying to messages regarding employment opportunities.  See the tips below to help you spot recruitment fraud.

Identifying recruitment fraud

When attempting to identify recruitment fraud, please consider the following:

  • Altec does not conduct job interviews via email, chat, or social media sites.

  • Altec does not require job candidates to send money to Altec to participate in the interview process or purchase equipment.

  • If you are contacted via email by a recruiter claiming to work for Altec, be sure to verify that the communication is coming from an Altec-owned email address.  All email addresses for Altec recruiters end with “altec.com” (i.e. [email protected]).

  • If you are contacted via phone by a recruiter claiming to work for Altec, please verify that the phone number is listed on a legitimate Altec website.

  • Altec does not make job offers to individuals who have not gone through the appropriate interview processes.  Please be wary of any recruiter who makes you a job offer if you have not already applied for the job directly from the Altec Jobs website. Please be wary of any recruiter who makes you a job offer if you have not already applied for the job from either the Altec Jobs website or a reputable job posting website, such as LinkedIn, Indeed, CareerBuilder, etc. Check job postings to ensure they were made by a legitimate Altec account.

  • Scammers may create fraudulent job recruitment websites with a domain name similar to the legitimate Altec domain.  Legitimate Altec websites use the altec.com domain.  Be wary of any website that uses a variation of this domain name as it could be a sign of fraudulent activity.

We take this type of fraud very seriously. If you suspect an individual is fraudulently claiming to be an Altec recruiter, please contact us at [email protected].  You can also report job recruitment fraud to the FTC at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/
