As an Applications Engineer, you will create custom designs, develop customer-specific electrical and hydraulic systems, and design structural assemblies using 3D software. 
 
Applications Engineering plays a critical role in developing new options and configuring a technical build package for operations according to customer specifications.  If you possess strong design skills, a knack for problem solving, and a mechanical troubleshooting aptitude, this is the job for you.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interface directly with Sales and Customers throughout the entire build process, including clarifying requirements, suggesting improvements, and participating in pre-delivery inspections
  • Use 3D software (SolidWorks) to create custom parts and assemblies to meet all desired customer requirements and equipment functionality
  • Generate parts pages for serviceability and manufacturability of custom machine options
  • Create hydraulic and electrical solutions for proper system integration and functionality, allowing Altec’s customers to work safer and smarter
  • Support Operations and Service associates with hands-on and remote troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with Team Altec to establish and maintain lean principles through kaizen events, improving our products and our processes
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • ABET EAC certified Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (excludes Engineering Technology) or a Master’s Degree in Engineering
    • A degree in one of the following major preferred:
      • Mechanical
      • Industrial
      • Biosystems (Agriculture)
      • Aerospace
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with team members and work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying.
  • Prior interaction with Altec Team at a recruitment event preferred
 
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Experience with 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) modeling.
  • Ability to work with team members and work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and principles.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Customer service oriented.
