Basic Qualifications

Altec Capital Services (ACS) is currently looking for an Accounting Manager in Birmingham, AL. The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate various accounting functions for ACS.

Altec specializes in the manufacture, sale and service of aerial devices, digger derricks, cranes and specialty equipment for the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, construction, and light and sign maintenance industries in more than 120 countries throughout the world. Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Four year minimum experience in Financial Accounting required
  • CPA preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel required

Responsibilities

  • Manage the staffing process, such as scheduling and hiring to ensure levels are sufficient; holding associates accountable for work quality and performance and manage this performance by developing and communicating excellent standards of production and service
  • Direct the compliance of staff with administrative policies and procedures; Direct training programs to ensure understanding and compliance
  • Provide support to LeaseWave users and serve as liaison between ACS and LeaseWave provider Odessa
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly financial statements with explanations where appropriate
  • Help staff with daily transaction processing
  • Approve journal entries
  • Serve as primary contact for external auditors
  • Develop and track management estimates; Compile and distribute management reports
  • Create and review internal control
  • Develop and distribute Crystal Reports
  • Compile and submit personal property tax reports
  • Review financial statement accounts for accuracy
  • Review and code all AP invoices
  • Work with funding sources on monthly payments/ payoffs/ proceeds
  • Analyze and track financial statement reserves
  • All other duties as assigned
