Altec Capital Services is currently looking for a Staff Accountant in Birmingham, AL. The purpose of this position is to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss or other financial activities within an organization.

Altec specializes in the manufacture, sale and service of aerial devices, digger derricks, cranes and specialty equipment for the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, construction, and light and sign maintenance industries in more than 120 countries throughout the world.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in resolving AP issues
  • Periodically monitor AP invoices to ensure they are accounted for and posting to General Ledger
  • Correct and reconcile discrepencies in intercompany accounts
  • Process lease booking
  • Establish and adjust sundries accounts
  • Initiate wire transfers
  • Perform high volume reconciliations
  • Process payment to funding sources
  • All other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.

  •  Bachelor’s  Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • One to three years accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

 

Financial Budgeting, Capital, and/or Manpower Responsibilities

  • Process and submit high volume and high value wire transfers to multiple funding sources

  • Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software
