The Customer Service Representative interacts with customers to provide information regarding products, pricing and services, and addresses and resolves issues professionally to ensure customer satisfaction in alignment with Altec’s Customer First value.

Basic Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is the preferred education, and entry-level will be considered with an interest in a technical role requiring customer service and problem-solving. OR
  • HS Diploma or GED is required with
    • One year of Altec Manufacturing or Service experience required
    • OR two years’ experience in a similar or related field
    • Five years of experience is preferred
  • Comfortable with technical specifications, prints, terminology, etc.
  • PC Skills using spreadsheets, word processing, and other office management applications required;
  • Skills in using Adobe Graphics a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, product, or industry knowledge required
  • Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines while producing quality work
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with moderate supervision

Major Responsibilities

  • Take calls directly from the customer.  Provide a high level of customer service, identifying the need and doing research to order correct part.
  • Research and promote new products.
  • Enter orders accurately, following up with customers on a timely basis with open issues and questions
  • Build a relationship with customers based on respect and service, with professionalism and using proper phone etiquette.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels, communicating with Purchasing regarding urgency and working with vendors on parts and service requirements.
  • Gain the necessary technical expertise through training opportunities and experience.
  • Assist the Accounts Receivables Group on customer payments.
