This role is instrumental in developing quality systems and in mentoring all associates in the business imperative of a quality-focused organization.  Improve organization efficiency by evaluating internal processes, implementing lean concepts and procedures, developing work instructions, and in proactively training associates.

This highly visible position can work from any of these locations: Birmingham, AL; St. Joseph, MO; Roanoke, VA; Creedmoor, NC; Elizabethtown, KY; Burnsville, NC; Indianapolis, IN.

Travel to other locations will be required, approximately 50 - 60% of the time.

Basic Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Quality role with successful program implementation and in coaching others
  • (Key skills and concepts:  FMEA, Control Plans, Layered Process Audits, 8D Root Cause Analysis, Quality for Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Mechanical Aptitude, Quality Training)

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop quality systems and training programs for presentations and stay industry-informed to improve programs going forward
  • Develop content for on-line learning
  • Train Altec associates and suppliers on quality systems and training tools
  • Support and assist Altec associates and suppliers with the implementation of quality systems and tools
  • Facilitate RCI events
  • Schedule, coordinate, and deliver training with Altec plant associates
  • Lead and conduct on-site inspections and audits of Altec plants
  • Evaluate critical methods and procedures to determine how they might be improved
  • Guide teams to identify quality problems and recommend solutions
  • Assist Altec locations with the use of quality tools to support quality objectives and improve business metrics
  • Work across all locations and help them to share best practices where practical.
