MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of HVACr/refrigeration and electrical systems
  • Ability to do brazing, perform basic wiring
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs to refrigeration systems and equipment
  • The ability to operate vacuum pumps, leak detectors, electrical meters, hand tools, oxy/acetylene torches
  • Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, refrigeration procedures, and governing requirements
  • Perform work from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, diagrams and photographs to design and make parts as required by production areas.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies. 
  • Perform prototype work as requested.
  • Rework parts from vendor or internal supplier, custom design parts from special applications from blueprints or instructions, modify existing parts and assemble and install parts.
  • Works closely with engineers and production assemblers.
  • Locate necessary materials or recommended substitute materials if necessary.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Parts and material handling as required.  May involve use of overhead crane.
  • Provide assistance or training to other technicians.
  • Follow established safety, environmental and quality policies, procedures and practices
  • Verify machine functions and accuracy, perform preventative maintenance as required and ensure work environment is safe.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Request E.C.O. and/or diagram corrections.
  • Notify appropriate personnel if router changes are required.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

 

The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Currently enrolled in or completed a college or trade school training or a minimum of 2 years of experience in HVACr is required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of vacuum pumps, leak detector, electronic gauge set manifold and all of the practices and procedures needed to properly perform all necessary service on refrigeration systems ranging in size from 1/6 ton to 15 tons.
  • Requires the ability to perform complex mathematical concepts, geometry, trigonometry, formulas, functions, equations and algebra.
