Your Organization

Altec Roanoke specializes in the manufacturing and final assembly of aerial devices, cranes and digger derricks.



The Materials Supervisor supervisors and coordinates the activities of the purchasing team with the primary goals of minimizing cost, maximizing quality, managing supply chain scheduling and efficiently managing inventory levels using lean manufacturing principles.  This professional must demonstrate the ability to motivate and develop our greatest asset - our associates.

  • Supervise operations related to managing inventory, supply, shipping and receiving, and scheduling for a production team.
  • Manage the production schedule process in relation to supply chain management
  • Develop/implement enhancements and processes to achieve maximum efficiencies, control of materials, purchasing & related areas using lean principles
  • Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control and reduction programs; focus on process to maintain inventories at appropriate levels
  • Serve on functional, divisional and/or corporate projects as required
  • Encourage suppliers to utilize continuous improvement programs that help satisfy Altec quality standards
  • Ensure the purchasing team follows effective lead time management
  • Assist the purchasing team with buyer/supplier relationship management
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Enforce safety regulations
  • Keep records of associates' attendance and hours worked
  • Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet production goals


The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.


  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Two years applicable experience required or five years minimum purchasing or related experience and APICS or NAPM certification required
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred, Excel & Word required
  • Experience with Oracle Supply Chain Management tools is preferred
