Responsibilities

Potential Responsibilities: 

Interns/Co-ops will be placed into a manufacturing engineering role and treated like full-time associates.  They will have projects assigned by the mangers and work side by side full-time associates. Lead and participate in Lean/Continuous Improvement events. 

Manufacturing Interns/Co-ops will be focused on implementing lean manufacturing principles.  Altec utilizes the RCI (Rapid Continuous Improvement or KAIZEN) process to implement change. In addition to RCI’s, major projects will be assigned such as:  

  • Make changes to layout of the plant to increase production efficiency and output 

  • Help implement 5S and Visual Management Boards 

  • Conduct time studies, identify, and eliminate waste, & create standard work   

  • Design storage solutions to improve floor space utilization 

  • Supporting production on prototype units after the initial design has been completed 

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing an ABET EAC certified degree in Engineering required 

  • A degree in one of the following majors preferred: 

  • Mechanical Engineering 

  • Industrial Engineering 

  • Agricultural Engineering 

  • Completion of Dynamics & Statics Classes preferred.
