Reporting to the General Manager, this leader will play a vital role in facilitating the continued successful growth of the plant with ongoing support of product design for new customer orders and lean manufacturing. The Engineering Supervisor will coordinate all aspects of the engineering processes, overseeing a team that includes design and manufacturing engineering roles. This person passionately focuses on safety excellence and initiates design and process improvements that ensure high quality, minimize costs, and maximize productivity through effective utilization of labor, equipment, and materials.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities (examples of work performed)
- Manages all Engineering activities while modeling safe & professional behavior, communicating clear expectations, and ensuring Altec values are present
- Holds team accountable for work quality, output, and performance by developing and clearly communicating performance expectations
- Identifies and implements design and product documentation improvements that improve assembly processes, accelerate new associate training, improve quality through more consistent build execution, improve customer technical support reference information
- Works closely with Sales supporting Request for Quotes to generate engineered solutions for customers that align the customer needs with the plant objectives of building quality and profitable products
- Works closely with the Plant Manager, Production Manager & Supervisors on successfully executing builds in production as designed, supporting build challenges in a timely manner when they arise, as well as facilitating ongoing design changes that improve safety, quality, manufacturability, and cost
- Works closely with the Materials Manager supporting procurement activities including timely and accurate Bill of Material creation and changes, coordination with new suppliers/components, application/interpretation of Altec/industry component standards, technical assistance in resolution of supplier quality issues, substitutions & deviations, and other duties as needed
- Works closely with the Quality Manager supporting quality in all phases of the process from supplied components, in-process assembly, and final product quality
- Works closely with HR to help manage the compliance of staff with administrative policies and procedures
- Supports recruiting and hiring of engineering associates when needed
- Ensures alignment of Engineering goals with strategic objectives outlined by the General Manager
- Supports the Leadership team’s objectives for the safe and profitable growth of the plant
- Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- A minimum 2 years successful management of engineering associates required
- A minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment with preferred product or industry knowledge. Experience in Electrical and/or mechanical design/systems/processes, Bill of Materials, & 3D CAD preferred
- PC skills using spread sheets, word processing and other office management applications required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Some travel periodically is expected
