Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Preventative Maintenance Technician will support production needs by performing preventative maintenance on production equipment in the assigned area of Fabrication.  This job is differentiated from the general Maintenance Technician by no repair of equipment, only preventive maintenance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES):
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance tasks of production equipment in assigned department
• Complete lift/hoist inspections
• Communicate with Maintenance on critical issues to ensure the systems run according to specifications
• Use and conduct proper care of PPE
• Repair or correct safety concerns
• Support RCI events
• Clean equipment and work areas to enhance housekeeping (5S)
• Use computer to look up any necessary information required to perform job duties.
• Maintain daily time records
• Follow established safety and quality policies, procedures, and practices
• Job duties may vary by location
 

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
• Basic computer usage knowledge required.
• Experience in assigned department (Fabrication) desired.
• Basic electrical knowledge desired.
• Previous preventive maintenance experience desired.

CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING
• Ability to obtain certification required.
• Lockout/Tagout training desired.

OTHER POSITION SPECIFICATIONS (NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES):
• Keep a clean work area (5S)
• Assist co-workers as needed
• Knowledge of Altec programs and/or systems
• Shift work may be required.
• Perform all other duties as required / assigned.
• Must be willing to work extended hours
• Must have on-call availability

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Varies at each location, but could be extreme hot or cold, depending upon weather conditions.
Job tasks may be inside or outside.
Electrical hazards, elevated surfaces, moving objects, chemical or dust, mechanical hazards, vibrations and noise
Handling of sharp surfaces.
Weld smoke and fumes may exist
