Altec is hiring a Staff Accountant in Birmingham, AL (Corporate Office). This position analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities within Altec, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs accounting processes specific to the area or business unit assigned
  • Performs tasks necessary to facilitate the monthly financial closing process
  • Identifies the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts
  • Works with external auditors and tax compliance professionals in the preparation of the annual audit report and tax returns
  • Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates or verifies information or data
  • Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintains them over time
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned work responsibilities
  • Prepares financial reports for and provides information to management, supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose and/or recommend the best solution to solve problems
  • Translates or explains information and how it can be used to others
  • Performs other analysis as required
  • Assists/supports other departments as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned


 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • One to three years accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Treasury experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
