Altec currently has an opening for a Human Resources Business Partner in Birmingham, AL (preference).  As a HR Business Partner, you will support HR management/generalist and work with business unit leaders to develop and deliver strategic Human Resource solutions to achieve Altec Service and Sales Group goals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Advises managers and associates on state and federal employment regulations, benefit and compensation policies, HR procedures etc.
  • Conducts or directs the internal investigation of compliance issues; Conducts periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed; Consults with corporate attorneys as necessary to address difficult legal compliance issues
  • Provides input to management for the resolution of associate relations issues and investigations
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining HR records
  • Schedules or conducts new associate orientations
  • Conducts exit interviews and ensures that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed
  • Researches associate benefit and health and safety practices and recommends modifications to existing policies
  • Acts as Company representative at conferences and events to promote Altec related programs
  • Ensures company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements
  • Plans and develops curricula and materials for training programs and conducts training
  • Plans, develops, evaluates, improves, and communicates methods and techniques for selecting, promoting, compensating, evaluating, and training associates
  • Researches job and worker requirements, structural and functional relationships among jobs and occupations, and occupational trends
  • Participates in unemployment hearings with state government and third-party administrators
  • Consults with or serves as a technical liaison between business, industry, and government
  • May supervise HR Representatives and/or Administrative Support Associates performing payroll, benefits, and other HR duties
  • Serves as a confidential point of contact for associates to communicate with management
  • All other duties as assigned

Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • And one of the following …
    • Five years Altec Human Resources experience required with PHR Certification preferred, or
    • Five years external Human Resources experience with 2 years of Supervisory experience and PHR Certification preferred
  • Excellent computer skills required; Prefer Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and/or Kronos experience
